Synyster Gates (born Brian Elwin Haner, Jr. on July 7, 1981) is the lead guitarist and back-up singer Avenged Sevenfold.
Synyster joined Avenged Sevenfold in the year 2001 after the release of the band for the first album, Sounding the seventh trumpet. He was hot on their EP Ness on the soul, and the reissue of her first album, only to play a song, Heavy Metal version of "To End The Rapture". His father, Brian Haner Sr, is a musician, and often is Avenged Sevenfold official acoustic guitar player for his performances on their CDs. He attended the Musicians Institute in Hollywood, California, USA as part of the GIT program, and studied jazz guitar, in which Nick Seditious, Django Reinhardt, Adam Aparicio and Roddy are his favorite as a major influence.
Synyster was also a member of the band Pinkly sleek, side project with the Rev (Avenged Sevenfold's drummer), in addition to former bassist Avenged Sevenfold Justin Sane (not to be confused with Justin Sane of Anti-Flag). Pinkly Smooth was dissolved because Gates and the Rev wanted to be full time on Avenged Sevenfold, although when asked recently, the Rev and Syn both said that there is a new side project is planned, with the two games earlier Pinkly Smooth songs. Synyster has signed a new clothing line Syn Gates clothing.
He was sponsored by Schecter Guitar Research since 2004 and has custom Avenger models. It uses the guitars.
